Strategic Actions for Cleaner Transport
Following the memorandum of understanding signed in 2024, Colombia and Sweden reaffirmed their commitment to advancing strategic initiatives:
- Implementing smart mobility solutions by integrating artificial intelligence, data analytics, and augmented reality to improve transport efficiency.
- Exchanging experiences and advanced technologies in air traffic management, including the use of remote digital towers.
- Strengthening road safety by adopting innovative practices that reduce accidents and promote reliable mobility.
A highlight of the discussions was the exploration of digital tower technologies for aviation, with the possibility of launching a pilot project in Bahía Solano to enhance operational efficiency in remote airports.

Colombia Advances in Sustainable Aviation Fuels
During the meeting, Colombia also showcased its progress in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Discussions were held about developing productive projects in Colombia with Sweden’s technical and financial support, aiming to strengthen the SAF industry and contribute to aviation sector decarbonization.
Liliana Ospina Arias, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Acting Director of Civil Aviation, emphasized the importance of this international collaboration: “These types of strategic alliances are fundamental to advancing the modernization and sustainability of our transport infrastructure.”
The delegation, accompanied by Andreas Carlson, Sweden’s Minister for Infrastructure and Housing, toured Colombia’s Aeronautical Management Center, which oversees 70% of the country’s air traffic. The visit highlighted Colombia’s strong technical and operational capacity to ensure efficient, frequent, and safe air transport.
The strengthening of sustainable mobility between Colombia and Sweden reaffirms both governments’ commitment to transforming transportation into a driver of development, innovation, and sustainability.
