Colombia: Auteco Blue Delivers 100% Electric Truck Fleet to Supermú for Logistics Operations

Auteco Blue, a leader in electric mobility in Colombia, has delivered a fleet of six E-Truck 4.0T 100% electric vehicles to Supermú, one of the leading supermarket chains in Antioquia. The trucks will begin operating on the company’s supply routes immediately.

The deployment marks a significant milestone for electromobility in urban logistics within Colombia’s retail sector. It reinforces the viability of 100% electric freight transport in the country and demonstrates that this technology is already an efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible alternative for Colombian businesses.

Electrification of 25% of the Fleet

With this delivery, Supermú adds six electric vehicles to its total fleet of 24 distribution trucks, meaning that 25% of its truck operations are now 100% electric.

Five of the units, equipped with dry box bodies, began operating immediately on the company’s supply routes. The sixth unit, fitted with a refrigerated box and a Thermo King system, will be incorporated in the coming days once its bodywork is completed.

The new E-Truck 4.0T models were developed specifically for urban distribution and last-mile operations, offering high-performance technical specifications.

Each unit features:

• An 81.14 kWh battery,
• A range of up to 180 kilometers per charge,
• A payload capacity of 4,115 kilograms, making them ideally suited for the demands of the retail sector.

The vehicle also includes an automatic transmission with a manual mode that optimizes performance on both inclines and declines, enabling more efficient driving across routes with varying topography.

The truck reaches a top speed of 88 km/h and is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 120 kW (160 hp) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm.

The new fleet will supply the chain’s 14 points of sale and operate daily throughout the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley and Eastern Antioquia, contributing to a more efficient operation with lower environmental impact across the region.

Reduction of 59 Tons of CO₂

The environmental benefit of this fleet is among its most significant advantages, reflected in tangible decarbonization figures. Based on an annual operation of 23,040 kilometers per vehicle, each E-Truck 4.0T will avoid approximately 9.84 tons of CO₂ compared to a similar combustion-engine vehicle.

Together, the six trucks will prevent nearly 59 tons of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere each year—a reduction equivalent to the carbon capture of approximately 5,898 young trees or 1,962 mature trees. This positions Supermú as a sustainability benchmark within Antioquia’s retail sector.

The deployment was not an impulsive decision but rather the result of roughly five months of collaborative planning between Auteco Blue and Supermú.

During this period, the teams conducted technical workshops, operational site visits, and detailed Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Cost per Kilometer (CPK) analyses. They also designed the infrastructure and charging solution required to ensure a seamless transition to electric technology.

This comprehensive approach allowed the supermarket chain to validate the profitability and operational viability of the energy transition before committing the investment.

Juan Gabriel Ángel, General Manager of Supermú, noted: “When we defined our corporate sustainability strategy, we understood that we needed to move toward new energy solutions. We have already been investing in solar panels, and now these vehicles complement that vision.”

The shift to electric mobility delivers benefits that extend beyond the environment and corporate finances—it also improves working conditions for vehicle operators.

Reduced noise, fewer vibrations, and a more comfortable driving experience all contribute to a significantly better work environment for drivers.

Ángel de Jesús Alcaraz Betancur, a Supermú employee who will drive one of the new trucks, shared: “For me, this is a very important day. I have seen this company grow for many years, and now I have the privilege of driving one of these new trucks. It is a completely new experience and also a way to contribute to caring for the planet.”

It is worth noting that Supermú was founded 29 years ago as a neighborhood store in the Belén district. Today, it operates 14 locations and employs approximately 1,800 people, having built a growth model that places sustainability among its core pillars.

With this delivery, Supermú‘s six E-Truck 4.0T units join the more than 550 units of this model already operating in Colombia through Auteco Blue. This further strengthens Auteco Blue‘s presence in electric freight transport and confirms that this technology is already a reality for strategic sectors like retail.

The project establishes a new benchmark for urban logistics in Colombia and reaffirms that electric mobility already offers an efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible alternative for Colombian companies committed to a cleaner and more competitive future.

The Ideal Space for Fleets in Latin America

The Latam Mobility 2026 Tour will arrive in Santiago, Chile, on August 25, bringing together experts and strategic players to further strengthen the sustainable mobility ecosystem in the region.
