Colombia: Significant Growth in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Sales

The National Association of Sustainable Mobility of Colombia (Andemos), published a report that breaks the trend on sales of electric vehicles in the country.

After 18 months of decline, the market has experienced an important change in its behavior, with an increase in registrations of zero-kilometer cars.

According to Andemos data, electric and hybrid vehicles have played a crucial role in the change in market dynamics.

The association points out that these technologies already account for a quarter of all registrations in Colombia, marking a significant advance towards the adoption of cleaner and more sustainable technologies for the country.

In Figures

Andemos details that in the first four months of the year, vehicle registrations reached 55,882 units, and projections suggest a possible total volume of 185,600 units by 2024.

In terms of brands, Toyota continues to lead the market with 2,461 registrations in April, showing an upward trend.

On the other hand, Renault and Chevrolet, occupying second and third place respectively, have experienced negative variations in the first four months of the year.

Toyota’s success is largely attributed to the fact that more than 51% of its registrations correspond to hybrid vehicles, an offer that Renault and Chevrolet do not have in the Colombian market.

In addition, non-plug-in hybrid vehicles have reached historic figures in April, with 3,295 registrations, setting a new sales record in Colombia led by Toyota, while the BYD brand leads the electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle segments.
