The Dominican Electric Mobility Association (Asomoedo) held a meeting with the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, to evaluate the prospects of the sector in the country.
The purpose of the meeting, held at the presidential office, was to present several proposals to help a massive transition to electric vehicles.
Among the proposals is the need to optimize the mechanisms so that the tax benefits for the importation of electric vehicles reach the final consumer.
According to the local press, the importance of promoting research and development of technologies related to electric mobility, as well as education and awareness of its benefits, was highlighted.

The Asomoedo delegation was composed of engineer Edwin Martínez, Executive President, who also represents the Dominican Republic as Latin American Vice-President of the Latin American Association for Sustainable Mobility (Alamos) based in Costa Rica; Rafael Flores, Director of Communications; and Edison Santos, Director of Sustainability.
For the public sector, President Abinader was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos.
The space served as a stage to announce that the Dominican Republic will be the main headquarters of the Latin American Association for Sustainable Mobility (Alamos) from 2025, which seeks to consolidate the country’s progress in the promotion of electromobility in Latin America and the Caribbean.
