Electric Charging Stations in Mexico: Soriana Launches its First Site in Monterrey

Electrolineras en México

Soriana has taken a major step in its sustainability strategy by opening its first electric vehicle charging station in Mexico.

The pilot site is located at Soriana Hipermart Cumbres, in the city of Monterrey, and is the starting point of a broader alliance with FAZT to create the largest ultra-fast charging network in Mexico.

The project aims to install 1,000 electric charging stations in Mexico by 2030, with 50 new stations planned for the state of Nuevo León in 2025.

The goal is to support mass adoption of electric vehicles by offering modern, secure and accessible infrastructure.

High-tech Stations for the Energy Transition

These new stations are equipped with 120 kW and 200 kW chargers, enabling vehicle recharges in just 15 to 60 minutes.

Each site includes four chargers and two hoses per unit, surveillance cameras, advertising screens, and a mobile-friendly payment system via QR code.

This model combines speed, safety, and user convenience, in response to the fast-growing electric vehicle market in Mexico.

A Private Sector Commitment to Sustainability

Ricardo Martín Bringas, CEO of Soriana, emphasized that the country has gone from 3,000 to 30,000 electric vehicles per year in a short period. “We are here to be an active part of this transformation,” he said.

Javier Cuartas, CEO of FAZT, added that the project is designed to accelerate the shift to clean mobility through ultra-fast, reliable charging solutions.

With this initiative, Soriana and FAZT are joining the growing movement of companies that are investing in cleaner, more efficient transportation alternatives, reaffirming the private sector’s role in building a more sustainable future in Mexico.
