Enel X Way Installs Electrical Infrastructure for DP World in Peru

Enel X Way joins DP World, concessionaire of the South Pier of the Port of Callao, Peru, to inaugurate an electric charging station that works with renewable energy, becoming the first port terminal in Latin America to have this type of infrastructure.

The initiative will allow 20 100% electric internal transport trucks, the largest fleet of vehicles recently acquired by DP World, to be recharged with clean energy.

Sany Rodriguez, DP World’s Senior Director of Safety, Environment and Sustainability, highlighted that this project marks an important milestone in the operations and initiatives for the care of the environment.

“It will contribute to significantly reduce the emission of 2,145 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq) per year, and will promote the massification of the benefits of electric mobility for the energy transition of the Peruvian market,” she said.

Sustainable Roadmap

Globally, DP World is working to achieve carbon neutrality in its operations. In line with this commitment, DP World Callao has developed a decarbonization strategy with the ambitious goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

This strategy contemplates a significant investment of approximately US$72 million and concrete actions such as the construction of this electric charging station.

In addition, it should be noted that, at this station, each charger has a solar panel cover on the roofs that provides energy to illuminate the station.

As part of the project, Enel X Way installed a charging management platform that monitors energy consumption and CO2 emissions savings.

“The station has 10 dual fast-charge chargers of 200 KW each, consolidating the largest charging station in Latin America with an electrical infrastructure of 2MW of installed power. In this space, it will be possible to power DP World’s 20 100% electric trucks simultaneously,” concluded Alex Ascon, General Manager of Enel X Way.
