True to the mission of leading activities in electricity generation and distribution, natural gas and renewable energies, Engie began 2022 by embarking on an ambitious decarbonization project in Spain.
The strategy consists of accompanying customers on their journey towards carbon neutrality by achieving more sustainable territories, as well as more competitive infrastructures and more efficient industries.
The plan deployed by Engie is based on pillars such as acting on its own energy production by developing renewable sources, and offering solutions to reduce costs, consumption and carbon (CO2) emissions.
Partnership with IQE
Specifically, the company will begin by providing consultancy services to IQE, an industrial group from the chemical sector, for which it will design green energy solutions based on the most innovative technologies, and will be responsible for implementing and supervising this program to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption.
The analyses will cover techniques like CO2 capture for later use, biomass, heat recovery or biogas, among others. To calculate the most appropriate mix of technologies, simulation techniques will be used to consider the reality of the market, the maturity of the system or the regulatory reality, as well as the environment of each plant, to promote circular economy projects.
By implementing this project with Engie, the IQE Group will achieve the viability of improving its business by reducing CO2 emissions, thus fulfilling the goal of reconciling economic performance with environmental friendliness and care for people.
Engie is one of the world leaders on consumption reduction and renewable generation projects, as well as having extensive knowledge of the market, making it one of the appropriate suppliers to carry out these initiatives.
Award-winning for its work
The Engie branch in Spain has received a large number of awards for decarbonization efforts. For example, at the end of 2021, it won the Cambio16 Energy Award, based on the contribution of distributed solutions within the scope of an energy transition.
This work highlights the organization’s commitment to the planet by addressing challenges such as clean energy, the fight against climate change, supply security and rational use of resources.
Engie operates in 70 countries, seeking to energetically transform industrial activities with greater accessibility for all. The focus remains on continuing to build a more decarbonized world, a very difficult goal, but with the conviction to achieve change.
