European Union Strengthens Ties with Argentina to Promote Electromobility

On April 16, the third and last workshop of the “European Union – Argentina Dialogue: Developing a favorable environment for electromobility in Argentina” was held.

According to Energía Estratégica, the activity was supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Argentina and is part of the cycle of the EU Climate Dialogues project in the country, a project financed by the EU that brought together more than 500 actors to discuss climate actions on biomethane, energy efficiency and electromobility.

The focus of the event was to initiate and enable exchanges on climate policy options, experiences, success stories and best practices to foster the development of adequate policies, knowledge, innovation and investments to promote electromobility in Argentina.

The workshops were held at the CEARE (Centro de Estudios de la Actividad Regulatoria Energética) of the UBA Law School during the months of December 2023, March and April 2024, and were attended by a total of more than 200 stakeholders.

Sustainable Ecosystem

This last activity, held on April 16, 2024, focused on opportunities in the value chain and the promotion of investments for electromobility, where more than 70 people participated, allowing the participation of representatives and decision makers from the public sector, at national and subnational levels, the private sector, civil society and academia.

The different panels of this last meeting were attended by representatives of the EU Delegation in Argentina, officials from the governments of Jujuy, Catamarca and San Juan, as well as from the private sector and international development banks from America and Europe.

During the opening ceremony, Viktoria Lövenberg, Head of the Economic and Commercial Section of the Delegation of the European Union in Argentina, highlighted that our countries share a historical link and a long-term cooperation projection, highlighting that Argentina has the opportunity to position itself as a key ally in the European electromobility strategy by supplying different links in this value chain.

On the other hand, at the sub-national level, the representatives of the provinces of Jujuy, Catamarca and San Juan agreed on the opportunity to participate in the electromobility value chain for local development.
