First battery swapping system for electric motorcycles arrives in Chile thanks to Copec Voltex

In January of this year, and with the aim of continuing to promote sustainable mobility initiatives that improve people’s lives by offering more service options, Copec brought the first battery swapping system for electric motorcycles to Chile.

This was made possible through their strategic alliance with Gogoro, a globally renowned company in the development of electric motorcycles with battery swapping.

This technology represents a significant advancement in the electromobility of two-wheeled vehicles in the region, as experts predict that this segment will be the first to electrify on a large scale.

The smart batteries, specifically designed for these vehicles, offer added value by being associated not only with sustainable mobility, promoting the expansion of zero-emission vehicles, but also with the time demands of modern life.

The system allows a depleted battery to be swapped for a charged one at the station, meaning that in less than 30 seconds the motorcycle is ready to ride again, providing greater autonomy than a conventional electric motorcycle.

“The implementation of the battery swapping system marks our entry into two-wheeled electromobility, which means that sustainable mobility with clean energy reaches many more segments than previously considered. The alliance with Gogoro will allow us to extend the benefits of electromobility and create a positive impact on people through a pioneering service in the region,” said Arturo Natho, Copec’s general manager, at the time.
