Pedro Giraldo, Geotab’s Business Development Manager for Latin America, presented the Mercado Libre Mexico success story at the Latam Mobility & Net Zero: Mexico 2024.
Giraldo held a conversation with Alejandro Martinez, leader in Distribution Operations, Sustainable Mobility and Road Safety at Mercado Libre Mexico in which they revealed “Real Data, Solid Basis for Sustainability.”
“The adoption of telematics should be a necessity and not an adoption, the more data you have from your fleet, the better decisions you can make,” said Martinez.

Martinez noted that being a technology and distribution company for Mercado Libre it was very natural to adopt the innovation presented by Geotab.
“Geotab’s tools have allowed us to study the behavior of our drivers since for us road safety is vital. We started with telemetry and geolocation and migrated to telematics,” explained the Mercado Libre executive.
For Mercado Libre, the use of predictive data for fleet maintenance with a strong focus on safety has been key.
“It has been a very important year in road safety, we seek zero accidents, so we monitor drivers in real time and develop a system. We are not monitoring vehicles, we are taking care of lives,” he said.
Martínez pointed out that Mercado Libre has reduced its accident rate through Geotab’s technology and campaigns to educate its drivers.
