With more than three decades of experience in the Latin American automotive market, Gildemeister reaffirms its leadership as a distributor and comprehensive operator of mobility solutions, promoting a strategy that combines innovation, sustainability, and customer proximity.
Gildemeister‘s history began in 1986, when it became the official representative of Hyundai in Chile. Since then, it has followed a path of sustained expansion that has led it to open new lines of business and expand its brand portfolio.
In 2002, the company entered the pre-owned vehicle market with the creation of Carmiester, and in 2003 it landed in Peru as the official distributor for Hyundai. Brand diversification was a constant: in 2006, Volvo and Land Rover were added; in 2009, Mahindra arrived; in 2012, Brilliance and Yutong were incorporated; and in 2014, Jaguar in Peru and Baic in both countries.
The year 2017 marked a milestone: Hyundai became the best-selling brand in Chile. Subsequently, in 2020, Gildemeister expanded its business to the freight and passenger transport segment in Peru with Hyundai Truck & Bus.
Brand Portfolio and Vision for the Future
Today, Gildemeister represents and markets internationally renowned brands such as Hyundai, Geely Auto, Jaguar, Land Rover, Baic, Mahindra, Yutong, Brilliance, and, more recently, JAC in Chile and Peru.
The company has a clear vision: “to transform and give meaning to friendly mobility,” integrating technological innovation, social responsibility, and environmental care into every aspect of its operations.
Gildemeister‘s sustainable approach is manifested on three fronts: electromobility, energy efficiency, and social responsibility.
- Electromobility and low emissions: The incorporation of brands with strong development in electric and hybrid vehicles, such as Hyundai, Geely, and JAC, responds to a strategy that seeks to reduce the carbon footprint of the automotive fleet, participates in the expansion of charging infrastructure, and encourages the adoption of zero- and low-emission technologies.
- Operational efficiency: Gildemeister’s branches and workshops have been incorporating energy efficiency, consumption optimization, and waste reduction practices in line with international standards.
- Inclusive and accessible mobility: The company promotes solutions that integrate all people, developing programs and products tailored to the needs of each segment of the population.
“The future of mobility will be electric, connected, and sustainable, and Gildemeister wants to be a leader in that transformation in the region,” the company states on its website.
JAC and Retail with a National Presence
In December 2024, Gildemeister became the official representative of JAC in Chile, an alliance that includes a network of 42 showrooms and 32 authorized workshops nationwide.
JAC, renowned for its line of electric vehicles, joins the portfolio with models aimed at urban fleets, passenger transport, and sustainable corporate mobility.
This step reinforces Gildemeister‘s ability to offer transportation alternatives that reduce emissions, accompanied by specialized technical support and guaranteed spare parts.
In addition, in Chile, Gildemeister Retail operates more than 30 branches distributed from Iquique to Punta Arenas, with more than 700 employees.
This presence allows it to provide a comprehensive service that includes the sale of new and used cars, original spare parts, specialized maintenance, financing, and insurance.
In Peru, the company maintains a similar structure, with coverage in major cities and after-sales support certified by the brands it represents.
Present and Future Commitment
Gildemeister understands that sustainability is not limited to selling cleaner vehicles, but encompasses the way the company operates, interacts, and contributes to the community.
Its corporate social responsibility programs support initiatives in education, workplace inclusion, and road safety.
In addition, the company collaborates with public and private entities to promote policies that drive the energy transition in transportation and raise environmental awareness among consumers.
Looking ahead to the coming years, Gildemeister plans to expand its range of electric vehicles, incorporate digital solutions to improve the purchasing and service experience, and continue to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
With this strategy, Gildemeister not only consolidates its position as a leader in the automotive sector in Chile and Peru, but also emerges as a key player in the transition to cleaner, safer, and more inclusive mobility.
