Huawei Launches the First Electric Car from BAIC Motor Partnership

Huawei and Chinese manufacturer BAIC Motor announced the launch of the new Stelato S9. It is the first electric car of the joint venture developed by both companies to be launched on the market.

According to a report by Electric Mobility, the Stelato S9 will be available in two versions: one with a single engine and one with two engines.

Stelato now brings the new S9. Its price, initially, will start at 50,150 euros. The new brand expects to sell 120,000 units annually.

Manufacturer Competition

With the launch of this vehicle, BAIC Motor aims to occupy the market share held by other established models in the Asian market.The main competitors of the Stelato S9 will be the Tesla or the Mercedes-Benz EQS.

Huawei has been in charge of developing all the internal software and critical components, while BAIC Motor has been in charge of overseeing the platform and assembly of the cars.

Huawei’s new electric car has single-motor and two-motor versions available. The single-motor reaches a maximum power output of 227 kW, thanks to its 100 kWh battery. On the other hand, the single-motor Stelato S9 homologates a staggering 816 km of range.

Then there is the twin-engine version of the Stelato S9. This has a 100 kWh battery capacity, just like the other version.

However, the twin-engine version reaches 385 kW of power and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.

In terms of range, it has a slightly lower figure than the single-engine version, with an approved range of 721 km. Finally, thanks to its 800 volt architecture, it can recover 200 km of range in only 5 minutes.
