Hybrids Lead the Low Emission Vehicle Market in Colombia

Sales of electric vehicles in Colombia have accumulated between January and October with 37,924 registrations and an expansion of 54.9%.

In terms of technology, full hybrids (HEV) and light hybrids (MHEV) dominate this market with 3,735 units registered, boosting their invoicing by 92.9%.

According to El Carro Colombiano, the best seller was the Mazda CX-30 with 523 units, with a 16% growth.

Meanwhile, electric cars (BEV) achieved the highest increase with 272.4% and 1,080 vehicles, reaching a historic milestone during the month. The favorite was BYD Seagull, with 257 registrations.

Plug-ins

Plug-in hybrid cars (PHEV) contributed 82 units, showing a 38.7% reduction. The Volvo XC60 triumphed in this category, registering 28 units, which, however, represented a drop of 15.2%.

Turning to the overall figures of the segment, Toyota repeated as the best-selling brand by delivering 886 vehicles, reaching an increase of 93.4% during October.

The manufacturer placed in the Top 20 its models Corolla Cross (2), Yaris Cross (9), Corolla Sedan (13) and RAV4 (17), all of them with full hybrid mechanics (HEV).

Mazda followed with 642 units of its light hybrids and a 6.5% boost, leading with CX-30 and placing the Mazda 3 in 18th position.

BYD is in third position with 606 deliveries and a 422.4% increase in its results. Throughout the ranking, it placed three of its electric models: Seagull, in fifth place; Yuan Up in position eight, and Yuan Plus in number 20.
