Hyundai and Iberdrola agree on a deal to strengthen the electrification of transportation in Spain

Hyundai and Iberdrola have established a strategic agreement that will enable both companies to continue advancing the development of sustainable mobility in Spain, overcome barriers, and promote the adoption of ‘zero emissions’ vehicles, thereby facilitating the transition to electric cars.

In particular, this collaboration allows both companies to join forces to offer a solution that simplifies and makes it easier for customers to adopt electric mobility, giving them the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of an electric vehicle from the moment of purchase.

Thus, with each sale of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, Hyundai will include a Wallbox charging point at no cost, which Iberdrola will install at the customer’s home, whether it is in a single-family residence or a community garage.

“This agreement between two leading companies in sustainability reflects our commitment to customers and, therefore, to society, to facilitate access to the cleanest technologies. It is a pride that Iberdrola, a leading company in the electrification sector, is executing this agreement with Hyundai, a leader in the development of sustainable vehicles and the only brand in the market with five electrified technologies,” says Leopoldo Satrustegui, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor España.

Hyundai and Iberdrola: Together

With this initiative, Iberdrola continues to advance its strategy towards a zero-emission mobility system and its sustainable mobility plan. This plan, which was pioneering when launched in 2016, aims to install 100,000 electric chargers by 2025 in homes, businesses, and public spaces.

To achieve this, the design of its public infrastructure is being deployed both on highways and corridors as well as in cities and small towns, with the goal of having a fast-charging station every less than 50 kilometers.

On the other hand, Hyundai’s strategy for achieving the decarbonization of its range is based on three key pillars: clean mobility, new generation platforms, and green energy. In this last aspect, which aims to reduce dependence on highly polluting fossil fuels, hydrogen will play a key role.

With over 20 years of experience in the development and application of this technology in the mobility sector, Hyundai is preparing to deepen its commitment to this clean and sustainable energy source. The company is promoting the use of hydrogen in both automotive and other sectors.
