Iberdrola has strengthened its position as the most extensive public charging network in Spain by exceeding 5,000 charging points. During 2023, they have added more than 200 chargers each month to this figure.
In addition, they are working on the construction of 3,000 additional points with another 2,000 awaiting administrative procedures. The energy company’s sustainable mobility plan covers the implementation of charging stations for electric vehicles on the country’s main highways and corridors.
It also covers public access locations in cities and small towns in Spain, with the aim of establishing at least one fast charging station within a radius of less than 50 km.

This will ensure safe and autonomous travel throughout the country. In addition, it is important to note that all the energy provided in Iberdrola’s public grid comes from 100% renewable sources, facilitating sustainable mobility for its more than 150,000 users.
Iberdrola’s grid in Spain
Iberdrola Spain’s network currently boasts the largest number of fast and ultra-fast charging points (with capacities ranging from more than 50 kW to 400 kW) in the country, with more than 1,500 stations distributed throughout the country.
These fast stations allow charging most of the battery within 20 to 30 minutes, while in the ultrafast stations, this time is significantly reduced, with a charging interval varying between 5 and 10 minutes.
The expansion of the mobility network also extends into the private sector, with the installation of more than 26,000 recharging points, under partnerships with various companies, such as Mercadona, Telefónica, Vodafone and Northgate, in addition to the installation of recharging points in private homes.
Finally, and with actions such as this, Iberdrola’s Sustainable Mobility Plan stood out as a forerunner in the industry when it was launched in 2016.
