On August 25, Santiago de Chile vibrated with the energy of over 600 attendees who traveled from various points across the Southern Cone to participate in a new edition of Latam Mobility Cono Sur 2026.
The event, part of the Latam Mobility 2026 Tour, cemented its place as the space where sustainable mobility stops being a promise and becomes a tangible reality—backed by hard numbers, real projects, and strategic alliances that are charting the course for the region.

Chile, the host country, came with some impressive stats: more than 4,300 electric buses in Santiago, a network of 2,159 public charging points, and 96.8% growth in electric vehicle sales during the first five months of the year.
The day kicked off with the warmth of an industry that knows one another, respects one another, and shares a common goal. The authorities on hand welcomed an audience that didn’t just listen but actively jumped into every conversation.

Deputy Minister of Transport Martín Mackenna made it perfectly clear: Chile’s progress in electromobility isn’t a mirage—it’s the result of sustained state policies since 2018 that have earned a 75% public approval rating for the Red Movilidad system. That proves that what’s sustainable is also socially valued.

An Agenda That Highlights What Truly Matters
The summit’s agenda allowed for a thorough, steady exploration of the topics shaping the future of transportation in Latin America. The first major block revolved around integrating sustainable mobility as a cornerstone of regional governance—a challenge that requires coordinating policies among neighboring countries to avoid imbalances and leverage synergies.

That was followed by an intense debate on charging infrastructure, where it became clear that the biggest pending task isn’t just installing more points, but ensuring they are accessible, interoperable, and tailored to real user needs—whether for fleets or individual drivers.

The role of manufacturers and importers was another key focus, featuring a candid exchange about model offerings, market arrival timelines, and the importance of adapting vehicles to local conditions and requirements.
Micromobility and passenger transport also took the spotlight, in a context where cities are hunting for alternatives to ease congestion and offer cleaner, more efficient options.

And, of course, there was an in-depth look at logistics and the value chain, because the transition won’t be complete unless freight transportation joins the shift. All of this was framed by the experience of major industrial players that are already moving toward more sustainable models and shared their lessons learned along the way.

The Space That Drives Change in Latin America
Events like this wouldn’t be possible without a clear vision of what regional collaboration really means. At Latam Mobility, we understand that sustainable mobility doesn’t advance at the same speed in every country, but the exchange of experiences accelerates progress and enriches solutions.

Each stop on the 2026 Tour—Monterrey, São Paulo, Medellín, Santiago, and the upcoming one in Mexico—has been an opportunity to build bridges so that what works inspires others, and so that missteps become shared learning.

In Santiago, that spirit was felt in every conversation, every question, and every smile of reunion among colleagues who know they can go further together.
Furthermore, this event wouldn’t have had the impact it did without the support of the strategic partners who are betting on clean mobility, and without the generosity of the speakers and panelists who dedicated their time and knowledge to enrich the debate.

But above all, the biggest thanks go to the more than 500 attendees who filled the Hotel Intercontinental with life, because it’s them—through their daily work—who are making electromobility a reality in the Southern Cone.

And the tour continues. The next stop will be at Latam Mobility & Net Zero México 2026 on October 12 and 13, where the sustainable mobility community will gather to keep building the future of transportation in the region.
Mexico awaits us with open arms and with the certainty that the path we have traveled so far is only the beginning of a transformation that has no turning back.
See you in the Aztec capital!
