Learn about the Bill to Boost Innovation and Sustainable Mobility in Brazil

Brazil’s lower house recently approved a bill that establishes a green innovation and mobility program called Mover.

According to a report by BN Americas, the initiative provides for financial incentives of US$3.67 billion over five years and a reduction in the IPI tax on industrialized products.

One of the objectives of the legislation is to encourage research and development of technological solutions and the manufacture of vehicles and motorcycles with lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Good Feelings

The proposal, which is currently being analyzed by the Senate, has been well received by the automotive sector in Brazil.

To access the Mover incentives, companies must have projects approved by the government and allocate minimum percentages of gross revenues from automotive goods and services to research and development of solutions in line with decarbonization and the implementation of assistive technologies in vehicles.

Projects for new products or vehicle models, research and innovation or automotive engineering services, installation of recycling or circular economy units in the automotive chain, relocation of industrial units and assembly and production lines, and installation of gas filling stations for vehicles will also be accepted.
