MET Group Takes Crucial Step in Leading Energy Transition

MET Group announced that it has become a member of major renewable energy associations in three key trading countries through its Green Assets Division.

These are the lobbying organizations AEE Suisse, ANIE Rinnovabili and the Hungarian Renewable Energy Association. With these partnerships, MET can actively contribute to shaping the political regulations that will support the energy transition.

Switzerland, Italy and Hungary play a decisive role for MET Group‘s international business activities in the renewable energy segment.

Switzerland serves as MET Group’s global headquarters and a crucial country for its wind power investments with a 25 % stake in the wind power development company SwissWinds.

Long Range

The Green Assets Division’s teams in Milan, Italy, and Budapest, Hungary, support MET’s renewable business activities in Western and Eastern Europe, respectively.

In these countries, MET’s focus is on supporting green policies, improving systems for an efficient energy transition and participating in professional platforms to further these goals.

Balázs Lehőcz, CEO of the Green Division, emphasizes that being part of organizations that significantly shape policymaking gives them a powerful platform to share their expertise and contribute to achieving a sustainable future.

“It allows us to remain at the forefront of the industry, driving innovation and advocating for policies that support the transition to a greener, more resilient energy system,” he said.

“In the context of a rapidly changing energy landscape, joining forces with leading renewable energy associations is not only strategic, but essential,” added Christian Hürlimann, CEO of MET Renewables.

Membership in AEE SUISSE, Switzerland’s leading renewable energy and energy efficiency umbrella organization, positions MET alongside 40 industry allies and approximately 42,500 companies to shape the economic and energy policy framework at both national and cantonal levels.

In Italy, as owners of a solar energy development project with a capacity of almost 500 MWp, MET values ANIE Rinnovabili’s role in fostering international cooperation.

MET’s commitment is aimed at improving grid security, reducing energy costs, reducing CO2 emissions and advancing the electrification of the country, with a focus on integrating renewable energy into the electricity market.

As founding members of the Hungarian Renewable Energy Association (MMESZ), established at the end of 2023, MET supports the association’s efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions. The leadership, composed of key industry players such as MET, is committed to promoting Hungary’s renewable energy capacity and supporting the transition to green energy.
