Mexico: Approval of Key Incentives to Boost Electromobility

In order to promote sustainable mobility, the state government of Nuevo León, Mexico, will grant a reduction in the payment of payroll tax (ISN) of up to 95% to assembly companies known as OEMs that invest in this sector in the state.

The measure contemplates that direct suppliers (TIER 1) of software, hardware or infrastructure and technological services will receive a 70% discount.

Likewise, TIER 1 of auto parts and non-technological services will enjoy a 50% reduction, and for indirect suppliers (TIER 2 and 3), it will be 30%.

Unrestricted Support

The official publication of the state of Nuevo León points out that the sectors related to technology and innovation are those with the highest added value and the most dynamic ones that have set the world economic course in recent years, and within which those related to electromobility and electronic components have a high potential for the state.

The agreement offers investment incentives in the electromobility sector and establishes requirements for individuals to obtain the benefits, for which they must have a direct investment project under execution in the state in the electromobility sector, the amount of which is not less than 150 million dollars and which generates at least 350 direct jobs.

Among other requirements, a membership application must be made, and the company must be registered with the State Taxpayers Registry and be obliged to file a tax return and make a definitive monthly payment of the tax.

Also, the decree requires to have a registered domicile within the territory of Nuevo Leon, not to have unpaid state tax credits, to be up to date with the payment of state taxes and not to enjoy any other administrative facility published in the Official Gazette of the State.
