The Secretary of Energy of Mexico, Luz Elena González Escobar, met with the Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, to discuss energy infrastructure projects in the state.
The official stated that the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) will carry out energy generation and transmission initiatives, along with actions focused on electromobility, biofuels, and energy justice.
According to González Escobar, this meeting aimed to address a common agenda in energy and social matters for the state.
Initiatives in the state
Recently, the Government of Jalisco announced that the tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta will soon have a new public transportation system, which will have massive reach and be environmentally friendly for the municipality, as an electromobility model will be implemented, according to the authorities.
The Governor Lemus Navarro detailed that the new public transportation system in Puerto Vallarta will require an estimated investment of 897 million pesos and will serve approximately 20,000 users.
The state authorities project a highly favorable environmental impact for the tourist destination, as the new units will be fully electric, avoiding the use of fossil fuels, and the mass capacities of the upcoming transport system will reduce the number of buses currently operating in that coastal municipality.
Olinia and a State Policy
The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, presented at the beginning of the year the Olinia project, the first Mexican manufacturer of electric mini-vehicles that by the end of the six-year term, in 2030, aims to produce three models priced between $4,500 and $7,500.
The assembly plant, which will combine public and private capital, will develop a personal mobility mini-vehicle, another for “neighborhood mobility” for short distances, and one more for last-mile deliveries, detailed Roberto Capuano, in charge of the project.
In statements reported by the EFE news agency, he stated that “our goal is to launch the three models with a company that has public and private investment, that is economically viable and has long-term prospects. For our first model, the goal is to arrive at the 2026 World Cup opening match at the Azteca Stadium in an Olinia.”
