Mexico: Nuevo Leon University Opens Specialization in Electromobility

The Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico, announced that it will open a specialization in the area of electromobility that will officially begin in May of this year.

The university made the decision in order to meet the professional demand that is emerging in the entity in this area.

In that sense, Professor Luis Humberto Rodríguez Alfaro, explained that they are mainly trying to focus on vehicles and there are three points that are going to be developed in the specialty which would be: electric motors, the energy storage system and control algorithms; regulations and safety; and the electrical network that allows the charging of the automobile.

Time and Coverage Areas

According to the local university portal, the Specialty in Electromobility will last one year and will be taught in person at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME) of the State’s Maximum House of Studies.

“The idea is that in May of this year the first generation will begin and for each trimester the student will take two subjects. Those who have graduated from an engineering degree in the electrical, electronic or mechatronics area, as well as those who work in the electric vehicle industry, can apply,” said Rodriguez.

This specialization will seek to train professionals who have the ability to understand the concepts related to the ecosystem of the mentioned area and thus be able to join the electric vehicle industry in Nuevo León.

Initially, it will be attended by six full-time professors with doctorate degrees and who are also members of the National System of Researchers of the National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (Conahcyt).
