Camión eléctrico en Celaya

Three public transport companies in Celaya will begin testing an electric bus as part of efforts to promote sustainable mobility in the region.

The shift toward electromobility continues to gain momentum in Celaya, where transport concessionaires have started testing a camión eléctrico en Celaya, following a presentation by Zapata in February.

Initial trials of the electric bus in Celaya

During a session titled Sustainable Mobility: Public Transport in Transition to Electromobility, Zapata showcased its electric unit, which costs between 2 and 7 million pesos, with a charging time of two hours. Operators will require specialized training in usage and maintenance.

Tamayo, the initial testing company, handed over the vehicle to Atucsa due to the bus’s size, which posed challenges on its usual route. Verdes de Guanajuato will start the trials, operating the vehicle for one month on route Latino 2.

Electromobility: infrastructure and business cooperation

To operate the camión eléctrico en Celaya, companies installed a 440-volt substation and secured a three-month insurance policy for the testing period.

Atucsa will follow on Boulevard Adolfo López Mateos, and a third company is expected to continue testing in the final month. Senator Emanuel Reyes Carmona, who has supported the project, may attend the vehicle’s launch event at the central bus station, though his presence is not confirmed.

This marks a meaningful step in transforming urban transport by incorporating cleaner and more efficient technologies.
