The Government of the State of Puebla, Mexico, will implement the Comprehensive Program for the Reorganization and Modernization of Public Transport to organize, regularize, and improve service quality in the state.
The state governor, Alejandro Armenta, emphasized that this measure will benefit both users and concessionaires, and will also contribute to a more efficient, safe, and accessible transport system.
The governor highlighted that this program, introduced within the first 100 days of his administration, is part of the state security strategy since it will improve the quality of life for the people of Puebla and enhance protection for women in public transport.
Lines of Action
The Secretary of Mobility and Transport, Silvia Tanús Osorio, presented the Public Transport Reorganization and Modernization Program, after 12 years without its implementation. It includes financing for vehicle replacement with resources from Nafin amounting to 250 million pesos.
Additionally, it considers non-repayable contributions for electric vehicles, fine and surcharge waivers, and extending the permitted lifespan of taxis from 7 to 10 years, among other supports.
She explained that the program involves a Vehicle Inspection, which will begin on April 15 and last for 60 days, to provide updated information for decision-making regarding the best strategies to achieve a modern, organized transport system that offers the best service to citizens.
It will be ensured that vehicles providing public transport services comply with the safety and quality conditions established by law and guarantee the safety of all users.
