Micromobility: Mexico Hosts the Pre World Bicycle Forum

Micromobility has taken an important centimeter in the decongestion of cities and the road to decarbonization of the transport sector. In this sense, the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx) hosted the World Bicycle Pre-Forum.

In the event held recently to celebrate the World Car Free Day, the Secretary of Administration of the referred university, Eréndira Fierro Moreno, highlighted the transforming power of the bicycle.

She pointed out that the number of students and teachers who choose bicycles as their means of transportation has grown, and stressed the responsibility of the UAEMex community to lead the way towards sustainability.

Authorities’ Role

The Director of Supervision and Control of the Mass Transportation and Cable Car System of the State of Mexico, Octavio Quiroz emphasized that the governmental body is working hard to promote sustainable mobility.

He affirmed the Autonomous University’s commitment to mobility by pointing out that, for the first time, the institution has a road safety and mobility campaign and program.

“we are working on a driving program to make Ciudad Universitaria a unique model in the country in terms of sustainability,” he added.

“The city of our desires is possible. In Toluca, a large number of people commute to work by bicycle and we all have a great responsibility to protect their lives,” concluded the university professor.
