November Sets Record in Global Electric Vehicle Sales

The latest report from consulting firm Rho Motion indicates that during the past month of November, a record high was set in global electric vehicle sales, with 100,000 additional units compared to October.

This represents 1.8 million zero-emission units registered over the last 30 days, a 32% increase compared to November 2023, according to El Periódico de la Energía.

In total, 15.2 million electric vehicles have been sold worldwide during the first eleven months of 2024, a 25% increase over the same period last year. Projections from Euromonitor International suggest that by year-end, the total will exceed 16 million, marking an improvement of more than 2 million compared to 2023, when 14 million units were sold globally.

Leading Countries

China leads the registrations, as its electric vehicle sales in November alone accounted for 70% of all sales, with nearly 1.3 million units registered.

Key contributors to this massive growth were Geely, Tesla, and Changan, which achieved significantly higher operations last month.

Looking at the year-to-date figures, from January to November, registrations of zero-emission vehicles in the Asian giant have surged by 40%, reaching 9.7 million units, far outpacing sales in other regions.

Trailing China, by a large margin, are the European Union combined with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland (EFTA) and the United Kingdom, with a total of 2.7 million, followed by the United States and Canada with 1.6 million, and the rest of the world with 1.1 million.
