Paraguay Steps Towards Sustainable Mobility with New Electric Buses

The government of Paraguay is taking an important step towards modernizing its public transportation system by incorporating 30 new electric buses of Taiwanese origin.

This pilot plan, driven as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability in cities, is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2025.

The buses, which will be supplied by Taiwanese companies specializing in electric mobility technology, will offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional transportation based on fossil fuels.

In addition, the project aims to improve air quality, reduce long-term operating costs, and provide quieter and more efficient transportation for users.

This initiative also strengthens the ties between Paraguay and Taiwan, a strategic partner in the region. Collaboration with the Asian country will allow access to advanced technologies and position Paraguay as a leader in sustainable mobility in Latin America.

The Paraguayan government plans to analyze the results of the pilot program to assess the possible expansion of electric buses in other cities across the country.

“We want to adapt these models to our reality. We are strategically building the infrastructure to ensure the buses can operate smoothly, which is crucial at this initial stage,” said Carlos Sauer, technical advisor to the Vice Ministry of Transportation of Paraguay.
