The government of Peru published Supreme Decree N° 036-2023-EM, which approves the Regulation for the Installation and Operation of Electric Mobility Charging Infrastructure in the country.
The regulation contemplates a series of strategies for the country to massify electromobility and be one of the key players in the fight against the greenhouse effect.
The decree contemplates aspects such as Technological Facilitation by establishing a clear regulatory framework that encourages the introduction of efficient transportation technologies, essential to reduce dependence on hydrocarbons.
It also takes into account the environmental impact to align with global objectives that seek to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, improving air quality and reducing risks to public health.
In addition, the decree establishes guidelines for the installation, operation, safety and maintenance of the charging infrastructure, thus guaranteeing efficiency and safety in its use.

Installation
According to a review published in Energía Estratégica, the decree states that all charging infrastructure must be installed so that it can be connected to an electric vehicle in such a way that, under normal conditions of use, the transfer of energy works safely, that its operation is reliable and that risks to people and buildings are minimized.
It also indicates that private access stations are those located in individual homes, buildings or housing complexes, offices, commercial or industrial premises; as well as those installations for public transport fleets (cabs or buses) and the so-called electroterminals.
While the types of public access facilities are the electrolineras and self-service stations.
