Projections Forecast Mexico to Triple Electric Vehicle Numbers

The “nearshoring” trend, which, among other aspects, allows for the importation of products at low costs, the international electromobility agreement with Canada and the United States, together with Tesla’s announcement to build a plant, place Mexico as one of the leading countries in electric vehicles in the region in the coming years.

According to an analysis by Directorio Automotriz’s Business Intelligence Area, the boom in electric mobility in the country is on the rise, as it is expected that by the end of 2023, around 221,970 electrified cars will have been produced.

This figure represents an increase of 179% compared to the period from 2020 to 2022, when 15,730 low- or zero-emission cars were produced in Mexico.
