Puebla Breaks Records in Electric Vehicle Sales

The Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (RAIAVL) reported that during the first half of 2024, the state of Puebla recorded the sale of 1,940 electric and hybrid vehicles}.

This is a new record since 2016, when the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) started with the publication of information.

In a review of “El Sol de Puebla“, the guild explained that in these eight years, the entity increased the demand for this type of units by one thousand 256%.

Figures in Detail

In the first half of 2016, 143 cars were acquired; in 2017, 139; in 2018, 182; in 2019, 334; in 2020, 306; in 2021, 813; in 2022, 826; in 2023, 1,244; and in 2024, 1,940.

With this positive outlook, the institute positioned the state within the national top five, as one of the places in Mexico with the highest sales of these vehicles.

It was only surpassed by Mexico City, with a record of 15,215 cars; State of Mexico, with 7,515; Nuevo Leon, with 5,046 and Jalisco, with 4,588.

In an analysis by type of vehicle, INEGI published that the most purchased units in the state of Puebla, during the first semester of the year, were hybrids, with a total acquisition of 1,589; followed by electric vehicles, with 351.

A hybrid vehicle is one that combines an internal combustion engine with an electric one, while electric vehicles no longer use gasoline for their operation.

Latam Mobility closes tour in Mexico

After a successful start to the year in Monterrey, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, closes 2024 in Mexico City.

There will be two days, on October 15 and 16, where industry leaders and private sector representatives will provide perspectives on mobility, electromobility, sustainability, among others.
