The Secretary of Economy of Puebla, Ermilo Barrera Novelo, informed about plans and investments that seek the development of electromobility in Latin America.

According to official figures, the Puebla entity captured 3.469 billion dollars in 2023, through more than 100 important foreign investment projects that generated over 4,000 new jobs.

By mid-2023, Puebla’s Secretary of Economy informed that some 15 agreements had been signed with companies interested in investing in different sectors.

Barrera Novelo emphasized that this year, the agency in charge will focus its efforts on the international promotion of Puebla, for which a first trade mission will go to Spain and will invite the private initiative, for which they will define a date as well as visits to other countries in the coming months.

State’s Outlook

Making Puebla a great electromobility hub is important due to the presence of major carmakers such as Volkswagen and Audi, as well as auto parts manufacturers, which work together in the manufacture of vehicles.

For several years now, the auto parts manufacturers have become suppliers to the assemblers with operations in Puebla and to other companies with production lines abroad.

At the end of 2022, Volkswagen announced an investment with which it is building its new paint plant, which is necessary to attract the assembly of electric vehicles, which demand high sustainability standards from their manufacture.

Closing 2023, Governor Sergio Salomón held a meeting with Ander Muelas, President of the Spanish company Endurance Motive, who confirmed the installation of the first assembly plant in the entity of lithium batteries for micro electromobility in all of Mexico.
