Since 2022, Santander has been supporting sustainable mobility proposals through local sponsorships, promoting initiatives that share a vision for a greener future. In this regard, the institution has a collaboration in Brazil through an electric scooter rental service, which helps to reduce annual CO2 emissions by approximately 20 tons.
In this context, the European Environment Agency points out that more than 70% of greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector come from cars, vans, trucks, and buses.
For this reason, it is important to promote more sustainable forms of mobility to reduce the negative impact on the planet. In particular, it is essential to focus efforts on large cities, which are the main sources of these emissions.

Santander in favor of electromobility
Santander Brazil sponsors a project in São Paulo, where customers can access 50 electric scooters to move around the city, a measure that avoids the annual emission of 20 tons of carbon dioxide.
In addition, it helps to reduce noise pollution, as electric vehicles are much quieter than traditional ones.
“Santander has increasingly dedicated itself to projects that aim to improve life in large urban centers. This is the case with our partnership with shared electric scooters, which not only aid mobility by being an accessible means of transportation for the population but also improve the air we breathe,” said Carolina Learth, head of sustainability at Santander Brazil.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the service includes accident insurance and incorporates technologies to track the vehicles in real time, which have a maximum speed of 50 km/h.
