Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the development of “Olinia”, a 100% electric vehicle that will use lithium extracted from local soils.
The project promises a milestone in the country’s automotive industry and aligns with the goals of sustainability and modernity.
Olinia, whose name means “to move” in Nahuatl, will be a small, popular-access electric car, designed and assembled in Mexico by young Mexicans.
The project includes the production of lithium with its own technology, which strengthens the country’s energy independence.
Market Competitor
Olinia will offer a significantly lower cost than other manufacturers, which will allow more citizens to access electric mobility.
The pricing strategy aims to attract not only environmentally concerned consumers, but also those looking for a practical and affordable transportation solution.
Claudia Sheinbaum presented the project as part of her Technological Development for Innovation program, seeking to position Mexico as a leader in technology and sustainability.
In addition to Olinia, semiconductors and drones will be developed with national components.
