“The resources will be used in the development of new products, the modernization of facilities, systems and equipment and the assembly of a specific platform (the “CMP”) that will allow the company to produce hybrids and electric vehicles,” details the EFE report.

The platform will serve as the basis for the production of models of various brands equipped with Bio-Hybrid technology, which allows both thermal and electric and hybrid (gasoline or ethanol and electric) motorization of vehicles.

At the meeting with the governor of Rio de Janeiro, the manufacturer presented the Citroen C3 Aircross, a seven-seat SUV that it began manufacturing in Porto Real but has not yet launched commercially.

Filosa said the Porto Real plant will soon start producing another Citroen-branded model that is still under development.

“Our pole in Porto Real will be ready to manufacture models of the various brands that make up Stellantis. This is a strategic plant for the group’s development in South America,” said the executive.

Filosa also said that the multinational intends to attract new parts manufacturers to the municipality of Porto Real so that they can supply its plant.
