Uber Launches Innovative Mobility Tool in Medellín

The renowned mobility platform Uber recently announced the option “For Time” within its app, a tool that allows renting cars with a driver for specific hours in Medellín.

It is designed to offer access to an ideal mode of mobility to tour and visit the different tourist attractions in the city, such as Plaza Botero, Museo de Antioquía, Comuna 13, among many others. In addition, the innovation is focused on boosting economic and tourism recovery after the recession caused by COVID-19.

According to figures from the Tourism Observatory, the number of local users and domestic and foreign tourists who visited the capital of Antioquia in 2021 reached 700,000.

Steps to Use the Tool

On its official website, Uber explains in detail the steps to follow in order to use the new mobility solution. After opening the app, the user must choose the package of hours and kilometers that fit the needs of the journey, ranging from 1 hour and 15 kilometers of travel, up to 4 hours and 60 kilometers.

Subsequently, they will have to select the desired leasing option, which can be UberYa or Uber Comfort, and click on ‘Order By Time’.

Next, the customer has to add the starting point, review the request that shows the margin of the selected schedule, as well as the hours and kilometers included, and click on confirm.

Finally, the first destination of the trip is added, and the service is available.

Por Tiempo is also security-protected by allowing you to share the route with up to five trusted contacts. In addition, it is possible to make an emergency call to 123, which just by dialing it, shows the approximate current location and the lease information so that it can be shared agilely to the local authority.

Uber’s communication manager for Colombia and the Andean region, David Minguez highlighted that the new tool demonstrates the commitment to the city, where for more than seven years they have generated generated a large number of economic opportunities for families, in addition to bringing an additional mobility alternative.

“The Por Tiempo option is ideal for trips during any time of the year. Although without a doubt it becomes an excellent option for tourist rentals and to get to know the corners that the City of Eternal Spring has to offer”, he added.
