With the aim of accelerating the global energy transition, Uber signed a pledge in London to encourage its drivers to use zero-emission vehicles by 2030 in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, and by 2040 in all of its markets.
To achieve its goals, Uber said it will expand its micro-mobility partnerships in major cities to make it easier for drivers to rent or buy bicycles and electric vehicles.
For example, in countries such as Spain and Portugal, it has a pact with Cooltra, which will offer favorable conditions for them to access mopeds and electric bicycles.
Multi-platforms in Action
Through its various tools such as Uber Eats, the company also plans for member restaurants to use sustainable, recyclable or reusable packaging in 80% of markets in the United States, the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific by 2025 and 100% worldwide by 2030.
This will be enabled through agreements with Cooltra, Visa or Bunzl (a leading green packaging company) and in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations.
Restaurants that use sustainable packaging will be recognized with a badge on the app, which will also offer new options to opt for sustainability.

Established Strategies
It should be noted that Uber already announced in 2020 the goal of making its mobility or cab business emission-free on a global scale by 2040, and foresees that in cities such as London drivers will use electric vehicles by 2025.
In this regard, it will offer discounts and other incentives to customers who choose “green” alternatives.
In Spain, Uber announced that, in collaboration with Aena, which promotes sustainable mobility to and from its airports, it will activate a virtual priority access queue for Uber Green electric vehicles at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas terminal pickup point.
In addition, it will launch a 10% discount for users who wish to make use of this service on their trips to the airport.
