Uber Uses Artificial Intelligence to Drive Electric Vehicle Adoption

Through a partnership with OpenAI, Uber is leveraging artificial intelligence to drive its drivers to adopt electric vehicles.

The platform unveiled its new artificial intelligence assistant at the Go Get Zero sustainability conference in London, along with a variety of other green initiatives.

Powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, the AI will act as a personalized guide, helping drivers confidently transition from traditional fuel-powered cars to electric vehicles.

Information and Education

Uber’s new AI assistant acts as a guide of sorts to show the advantages of using electrified cars and dispel myths about the technology, costs and maintenance.

By tailoring its responses to each driver’s specific needs and circumstances, the AI will provide personalized advice on everything from how to buy an electric vehicle to tips on vehicle maintenance.

The AI will also be packed with useful information, such as purchase prices, how to find charging stations, and even incentives that vary depending on where the driver lives.

The goal is to remove much of the complexity involved in switching to electric vehicles, making it as easy as having a conversation.

The introduction of the artificial intelligence assistant is just one part of Uber’s broader strategy to drive electric vehicle adoption.

The company has already introduced features that allow passengers to specifically request electric vehicles and is implementing initiatives to connect experienced EV drivers with those considering the switch.
