VEMO and BYD to Strengthen Mexico’s Charging Infrastructure

VEMO and BYD announced a strategic alliance to strengthen their public charging network called “VEMO Charging Network” (VCN).

According to the brands, the agreement aims to continue accelerating the clean mobility ecosystem in Mexico by incorporating technology and more GBT standard charging points, ideal for BYD vehicle users.

The VCN is the most intensive network in Latin America with more than 45,000 recharges per month, which can be accessed through the “Watts by VEMO” application.

Reach in Mexico

The alliance is the first step to expand the high-utilization recharge hubs operating in Mexico City, as well as possible new locations for VCN in the country’s capital and other cities such as Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Jorge Vallejo, General Director of BYD Auto Mexico, celebrated these types of alliances that drive the adoption of new energy cars, whether plug-in hybrids or fully electric, in addition to recognizing the importance of VEMO for this transition.

“It is with these types of collaborations that we will be able to have a wider charging network in Mexico that will help our users to recharge their electric or plug-in hybrid cars when they are away from home,” he said.

In that sense, Roberto Rocha, Co-Founder and CEO of VEMO, highlighted that the agreement with BYD is an endorsement of its public charging network strategy. “We are committed to continue leading this change, towards a more sustainable and cleaner future, helping to reduce climate change and improve air quality,” he said.

For his part, German Losada, Co-Founder, Chairman and COO of VEMO, noted that it is critical to continue making investments to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Mexico’s cities.

“Doing it hand in hand with BYD, a world leader in electromobility is great news because it strengthens a clean mobility ecosystem with more and more users aware of the economic and environmental benefit of electric vehicles,” he added.
