VEMO Prevents the Emission of Over 10,000 Tons of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (tCOe)

VEMO presented its 2023 sustainability report, where it states that it contributed to avoiding the emission of 10,813 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCOe), with a fleet of 630 electric vehicles in Mexico City.

The company details that the 630 electric vehicles in Mexico City traveled a total of 57 million kilometers, thus contributing to the decarbonization of the transportation sector in the area.

In 2023 alone, the emissions avoided by its electric fleet represented 36% of the company’s total GHG inventory.

Targets Achieved

VEMO also measured its carbon footprint and identified that it emitted 30,363 tCO2e. Of this amount, 49% corresponds to direct emissions from fuel use, 13% comes from electricity consumption, and 38% was generated by its supply chain and other indirect activities.

VEMO’s charging network reached an installed capacity of 7 MW, including the largest network of multipurpose superhubs in Mexico, and registered up to 40,000 monthly electric vehicle battery charging sessions through Watts by VEMO, the first independent electric charging monetization application in the country.

VEMO closed the year with more than 2,200 green jobs across its organization, and with a portfolio of more than 1,300 active leases for unbanked drivers through its fintech division, VEMO Impulso, which operates under a lease-to-own scheme and has the first all-electric product in the country.

The report indicates that the company provided more than 50,000 hours of training for employees at the VEMO University, the largest training center specialized in electromobility in Latin America.
