Volkswagen to Assemble a New Hybrid Model at Brazil Factory

According to the media outlet Terra, Volkswagen will manufacture a new hybrid model at the São José dos Pinhais plant in Brazil as an important step towards the electrification of its fleet in Latin America.

This move is part of the investment announcement dedicated to this plant, as part of a broader expansion and modernization plan in the country, where the company will allocate R$ 18 billion in Brazil over the coming years.

Out of this amount, R$ 3 billion will be specifically assigned to this plant, and part of the capital will be used to realize the production of a new pickup truck derived from the Tarok project, presented by Volkswagen in 2018.

This vehicle is expected to expand the brand’s offerings in the pickup segment, incorporating new advanced technologies in terms of efficiency and sustainability.

In this regard, the new Tarok will be built using the MQB Hybrid platform, an evolution of the MQB-A0 platform, specifically designed for hybrid vehicles that will integrate a micro-hybrid system to improve performance and reduce emissions.

Thus, the development represents an advancement for Volkswagen in Brazil, generating a positive economic impact for the São José dos Pinhais region, while positioning the country as a key production center for sustainable vehicles in Latin America.
