Electric mobility goes beyond cars and scooters—it is reshaping the freight transport industry. At the forefront of this transformation are Volvo electric trucks, setting a global benchmark in sustainability and performance. The Swedish manufacturer is pushing the logistics sector toward a greener future.
FH Electric: high performance for intercity travel
Slated for release in 2025, the Volvo FH Electric is designed to cover up to 600 kilometers on a single charge—enough to connect Madrid and Barcelona. This milestone highlights Volvo’s goal of extending electrification beyond urban areas and into intercity logistics.
As Mercedes-Benz develops ultra-efficient prototypes and Tesla works to certify its Semi in Europe, Volvo electric trucks continue to stand out for their reliability and cutting-edge innovation.

Over 5,000 Volvo electric trucks delivered worldwide
Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered more than 5,000 electric trucks across 50 countries. These vehicles have collectively traveled over 170 million kilometers in real-world conditions, reducing CO2 emissions, noise pollution, and improving working conditions for drivers.
Volvo currently offers eight fully electric models tailored to a wide range of uses, including urban logistics, construction, waste management, and regional delivery. Key models include the Volvo FH Electric, awarded International Truck of the Year 2024, and the Volvo VNR Electric, essential in markets like the U.S., Germany, and Scandinavia.
More than sustainability: economic and operational benefits
According to Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm, clients are choosing electric trucks not only for environmental reasons but also for cost efficiency. “Our customers lower their operational costs while reducing their environmental impact,” he explains.
Volvo electric trucks also offer practical advantages such as lower noise, reduced vibrations, and simplified maintenance, encouraging fleet expansion across the globe.
On the road to carbon neutrality by 2040
Volvo’s climate strategy rests on three key pillars:
- Battery-electric powertrains.
- Hydrogen fuel cells.
- Renewable fuels such as biogas and HVO.
With this roadmap, Volvo electric trucks are not just part of the transition—they are defining a new era of sustainable freight mobility.
