The CEO of Copec Voltex, Francisco Larrondo, was one of the outstanding participants at Latam Mobility Chile, a meeting that brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to offer perspectives on sustainable mobility in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his presentation, Larrondo presented the projects being worked on by the prestigious company in charge of implementing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the field of public transport, the executive explained that they are currently implementing 10 electroterminals for electrified buses in the Metropolitan Region. Also, through a plan called “My Electric Cab”, Copec Voltex supplies energy to more than 300 cars destined for this activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the mining sector, one of Chile’s most important economic activities, Copec partnered with Codelco to provide charging infrastructure for 200 electric buses through the installation of 100 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Beyond the cities, our goal is also to reach the regions and provide charging solutions to the industrial sector,” said Larrondo during his speech at Latam Mobility Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Larrondo explained that electromobility is not limited to an electric vehicle and a charger, but represents a whole ecosystem of smart solutions to make it work effectively.
“At Copec we have understood these new trends and we have adapted all service models to provide solutions. We have to change the concept of charging with times of use,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that while it is true that the electric car is not yet economically viable for particular cases; in public transport, last mile fleets, intercity transport and long distance trucks it does generate important changes in the business model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In surveys we have conducted, around 50% of the operators we have consulted are convinced to incorporate electric vehicles into their fleets in two years’ time. For this reason, we are deploying infrastructure in every corner and we currently have the most extensive network in South America for fast charging”, said Larrondo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The executive assured that Copec will continue to intensify its efforts to massify the use of electric vehicles through key alliances with the public and private sectors that will lead to a solid charging infrastructure in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
