Strategies and incentives from the public sector and large investments from the private sector, place the country at the forefront in these zero-emission technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Precisely six years ago, the <strong>National Electromobility Strategy<\/strong> was introduced, in which the electrification of public transportation -mainly buses- played a key role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan was updated in 2021 with more ambitious goals, such as the requirement that <strong>all new additions to urban public transport must be zero-emission by 2035, as well as the sale of light vehicles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Foto3-1024x682.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Foto3-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Foto3-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Foto3-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Foto3-600x400.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Foto3.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: Enel X Chile press<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related content: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/vitesco-technologies-achieves-standard-certification-in-mexico-to-promote-womens-inclusion\/\"><strong>Vitesco Technologies Achieves Standard Certification in Mexico to Promote Women\u2019s Inclusion<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Corridor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This 2023 also began with good news as the new corridor with<strong> 107 new electric buses entering the Metropolitan Region&#8217;s public transport system<\/strong> came into operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fleet will have the support and charging infrastructure of <strong>Enel X Chile<\/strong> through electroterminals that are equipped to cover the energy demand, and a system of charging points that allow electricity to be supplied in a flexible way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;This public-private effort is a new sign that it is possible to accelerate the goal of electrifying 100% of Santiago&#8217;s public transport by 2040,&#8221;<\/strong> said <strong>Karla Zapata<\/strong>, General Manager of Enel X Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scope\"><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The new electric buses will benefit more than 55 thousand people in nine municipalities<\/strong>: Maip\u00fa, Estaci\u00f3n Central, Santiago, \u00d1u\u00f1oa, Pe\u00f1alol\u00e9n, Pudahuel, Cerro Navia, Quinta Normal and Lo Prado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new fleet to be operated by <strong>SUBUS <\/strong>will not only reduce the environmental impact and combat pollution in the city, but will also <strong>generate operational savings of approximately 70% compared to diesel buses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The electric units, besides not emitting emissions and reducing noise levels, also have the advantages of a transport with universal accessibility with ramp, kneeling suspension systems, double and preferential seats, yellow and corrugated demarcated pillars for people with limited vision, anti-trap door system, among other features.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2017, Chile is one of the pioneer countries in electric mobility within Latin America.
