In line with the initiative developed by the Climate Change Directorate of the Costa Rican Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), Coca Cola Femsa announced the acquisition of nine trucks equipped with Euro V technology that reduces nitrogen dioxide emissions by 60%.

The MINAE program is a voluntary mechanism for reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, demonstrating actions to reduce, remove, and offset emissions, and strengthening decarbonization.

Maricel Álvarez, Coca-Cola FEMSA‘s Corporate Affairs Manager, explained that the trucks use a system called SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction and urea) that transforms part of the polluting particles in the fuel into water vapor, which represents a 63% reduction of nitrogen oxide and 90% of particulate matter, the most polluting components present in diesel.
