{"id":16271,"date":"2023-02-07T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-07T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=16271"},"modified":"2023-02-07T19:25:17","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T00:25:17","slug":"mexico-set-up-working-group-for-the-electric-transportation-in-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/mexico-set-up-working-group-for-the-electric-transportation-in-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexico Set Up Working Group for Electric Transportation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Important progress continues to be made in Mexico with the aim of promoting electric mobility not only in the country, but throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The North American Leaders Summit (NALS) was held in 2023 with the participation of the President of the United States, <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong>; the Prime Minister of Canada, <strong>Justin Trudeau<\/strong>; and the President of Mexico, <strong>Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting resulted in historic agreements to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, reduce emissions and comply with the Paris agreements to address climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few days ago, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) presented the Mexico-States<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gob.mx\/sre\/documentos\/grupo-de-trabajo-para-la-electrificacion-del-transporte\">Working Group for the Electrification of Transportation<\/a><\/strong>, a high-level initiative developed jointly by the Foreign Ministry and the University of California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project involves the participation of key players in three sectors: government, industry and academia, from both Mexico and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GM-2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GM-2-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GM-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GM-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GM-2-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GM-2.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: Gobierno de M\u00e9xico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Related content:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/brazil-registered-over-4-thousand-electric-vehicles-only-in-january-2023\/\"><strong>Brazil Registered Over 4 Thousand Electric Vehicles Only in January 2023<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-goals\"><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective of the initiative is to generate solutions to guarantee the coordinated transition to electromobility from a strategic perspective, which includes intersectoral and triple helix work in five major thematic areas: Innovation; Human Capital; Supplier Development; Infrastructure Development; and Governance Structures.<br><br>The announcement of the creation of the binational working group was presided over by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, <strong>Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon<\/strong>, who explained that Mexico and the United States will jointly advance in the transition towards electromobility following an agreement reached at the recent North American Leaders&#8217; Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;The most relevant thing that happened at the North American Leaders Summit&#8230; is that a vision of North America was recovered,&#8221; <\/strong>said the Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Now we have a common vision, and in many fields, and this is one of them,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his speech, Ebrard especially thanked the <strong>University of California<\/strong> and the state&#8217;s governor, <strong>Gavin Newsom<\/strong>, for their willingness towards a common plan and roadmap for the transition to electromobility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Important progress continues to be made in Mexico with the aim of promoting electric mobility not only in the country, but throughout the region.
