Tesla’s announcement confirming the construction project of its plant in the State of Nuevo Leon represents a turning point on the road to the massification of electromobility in Mexico and Latin America<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through public-private agreements and the implementation of incentives, large automotive manufacturers see Mexico <\/strong>as fertile territory for the production of low-emission vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this sense, Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard<\/strong> assured that the construction of a Tesla plant, as well as other investments, will help accelerate the transition to electromobility in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his participation in the “Raisina Dialogue, Rhythm of the Left: Understanding Latin America’s Choices”<\/strong>, in India, he stated that accelerating electromobility and the energy transition is a top priority for Mexico, because everything is changing faster than planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional Movement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ebrard stressed that several Latin American countries have similar opportunities, in different fields at the same time, because a great change is taking place in the economic supply chain and economic organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have a lot of possibilities because we are living a big change in the economic supply chain and economic organization should say it right now in the world. So we have a lot of possibilities,”<\/strong> he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that Tesla’s arrival is an important step and stressed that it is not the only one, as other renowned manufacturers will also be coming to Mexico. “I think it’s obviously a great opportunity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We call it nearshoring or friendlyshoring. Tesla’s recent announcement is not the only one, we have recently BMW <\/strong>from Munich, they are going to start producing batteries in Mexico,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guild Optimism<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Jos\u00e9 Zozaya<\/strong>, President of the Mexican Automotive Industry Association<\/strong> (AMIA), with the arrival of the Tesla <\/strong>plant, the country is shaping up to be the electric vehicle powerhouse in North America and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In North America, understood as Mexico, the United States and Canada, we should be the world power, we should become so, if we are not already. A factory of this magnitude would be a tremendous leap forward for our country,” he told the EFE <\/em>news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
