In the midst of its annual balance sheet, Porsche made another stroke of luck in its electromobility strategy with an announcement that few expected. The CEO and President of the Volkswagen Group, Oliver Blume, announced that the electric version of the Porsche 718 will arrive in the middle of the decade.

The new car will coexist with the thermal model and then remain only as an electric sports car. And, to round it off, the Cayenne – which will soon undergo a thorough renovation with more plug-in versions – will also have a 100% electrified variant.

The German group’s goal is for the new jewel to be the brand’s flagship, above the Cayenne itself, which in 2022 approached 100,000 deliveries worldwide and its sales increased by 15% over the previous year.

Porsche’s first step into electromobility came in 2019 with the Taycan sports sedan, which in 2022 was chosen by nearly 35,000 customers. Although 2023 will bring no new developments in this field, it will already be 2024 before the new generation of the Macan joins Porsche’s electric portfolio.

Read also: Porsche Introduces Premium Electric Platform

Achievements and Goals
