{"id":17870,"date":"2023-04-13T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-13T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=17870"},"modified":"2023-04-12T17:13:30","modified_gmt":"2023-04-12T22:13:30","slug":"electric-vehicle-sales-set-record-in-brazil-during-first-quarter-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/electric-vehicle-sales-set-record-in-brazil-during-first-quarter-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Vehicle Sales Set Record in Brazil during First Quarter 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, <strong>Brazil <\/strong>formed the <strong>National Electric Mobility Platform<\/strong> (PNME) in 2020, as a joint effort of important players from government, industry, academia and civil society to identify long-term goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the economic and social difficulties caused by the health emergency, the starting point was given for the development of electromobility in the Amazonian country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fruits of the plan are already being evidenced by significant increases in the adoption of electrified cars, according to recent figures from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abve.org.br\/eletrificados-tem-o-melhor-trimestre-da-historia\/\"><strong>Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles<\/strong> <\/a>(ABVE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-data\"><strong>Data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Brazilian light electric vehicle market registered 5,989 units in March<\/strong>, representing <strong>a growth of 55.5% compared to March 2022<\/strong> (3,851). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It was the best March ever and the second best month in the entire ABVE historical series<\/strong>, according to historical count since 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The March numbers also confirm the first quarter of 2023 as the best in the historical series, <strong>with 14,787 light electric vehicles sold, 50% more than the same period in 2022<\/strong> (9,844).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the comparison with the first quarter of 2021 (4,582 units sold), the performance of the electrified market in 2023 stands out even more, with an increase of no less than 223%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to February 2023 (4,294), <strong>the 5,989 registrations in March registered a 39.5% growth<\/strong>. Compared to January (4,503), 33%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-overall-market\"><strong>Overall Market<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest <strong>ABVE <\/strong>report highlights that the total fleet of electrified light vehicles in circulation in Brazil, since the beginning of the historical series, <strong>reached 141,291 units in March this year<\/strong>.<br><br>Light electric vehicles include plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (BEVs and PHEVs) and non-plug-in hybrids (HEVs), including cars, light commercial vehicles, SUVs and SUVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/abb-arrives-in-brazil-to-bring-electric-technology-to-bravo-motor-company\/\"><strong>ABB Arrives in Brazil to Bring Electric Technology to Bravo Motor Company<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-plug-ins-on-the-rise\"><strong>Plug-ins on the Rise<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The automotive guild&#8217;s report also highlights in March the growth in sales of plug-in electric vehicles (which can be recharged via an external connector), confirming the trend of previous months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 5,989 registrations in March, <strong>2,172 were PHEVs<\/strong> (plug-in hybrid electric) and 587 BEVs (100% battery electric), totaling 2,750 plug-in vehicles in the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This total indicates <strong>a significant growth of 194%<\/strong> in this segment compared to the total of 939 light electric plug-ins sold in March 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>ABVE<\/strong>, these numbers are very representative within the electromobility market in <strong>Brazil<\/strong>, as they indicate a greater confidence of buyers with the technology of electric vehicles rechargeable by external connector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, Brazil formed the National Electric Mobility Platform (PNME) in 2020, as a joint effort of important players from government, industry, academia and civil society to identify long-term goals.
