{"id":17928,"date":"2023-04-17T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=17928"},"modified":"2023-04-15T21:43:46","modified_gmt":"2023-04-16T02:43:46","slug":"walmart-announces-large-network-of-low-cost-electric-chargers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/walmart-announces-large-network-of-low-cost-electric-chargers\/","title":{"rendered":"Walmart Announces Large Network of Low-Cost Electric Chargers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As part of its strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2040, the <strong>Walmart <\/strong>retail chain made an announcement that will represent a key step in the adoption of electric mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will install <strong>thousands of fast chargers for electric vehicles in its U.S. stores over the next few years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to information published by the <strong>EFE <\/strong>news agency, the plan will allow the company to have its own network of fast chargers in thousands of stores in the country by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/why-is-paris-banning-electric-scooters-for-rent\/\"><strong>Why is Paris Banning Electric Scooters for Rent?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-major-boost-to-electromobility\"><strong>Major Boost to Electromobility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The supermarket giant said in a statement that <strong>90% of the U.S. population has one of its shopping centers within a maximum distance of 15 kilometers<\/strong>, which puts them &#8220;in a unique position to provide a convenient charging option&#8221; that will help expand the use of electric vehicles (EVs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Walmart has 5,300 stores<\/strong> (4,700 Walmart-branded supermarkets and 600 Sam&#8217;s Club stores) in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chain added that it intends to offer <strong>the lowest recharge price in the market given that transportation spending is the third highest among households in the country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The network already has some 1,300 fast chargers in 280 stores in the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lower-costs\"><strong>Lower Costs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a 2021 study by the <strong>National Highway Traffic Safety Administration<\/strong> (Nhtsa), <strong>the average U.S. household transportation expenditure was $10,961 per year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vishal Kapadia<\/strong>, Walmart&#8217;s VP for Energy Transformation, said the move is part of a commitment as a natural extension of the company&#8217;s work to help customers and employees live better, simpler and more sustainable lives.<br><br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2040, the Walmart retail chain made an announcement that will represent a key step in the adoption of electric mobility.
