{"id":18008,"date":"2023-04-20T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-20T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=18008"},"modified":"2023-04-19T11:28:54","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T16:28:54","slug":"projections-forecast-mexico-to-triple-electric-vehicle-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/projections-forecast-mexico-to-triple-electric-vehicle-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Projections Forecast Mexico to Triple Electric Vehicle Numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The &#8220;nearshoring&#8221; trend, which, among other aspects, allows for the importation of products at low costs, the international electromobility agreement with <strong>Canada <\/strong>and the<strong> United States<\/strong>, together with Tesla&#8217;s announcement to build a plant, <strong>place Mexico as one of the leading countries in electric vehicles in the region in the coming years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.directorioautomotriz.com.mx\/blog\/detail\/31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>analysis by Directorio Automotriz&#8217;s Business Intelligence Area<\/strong><\/a>, the boom in electric mobility in the country is on the rise, as <strong>it is expected that by the end of 2023, around 221,970 electrified cars will have been produced<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This figure represents an increase of 179% compared to the period from 2020 to 2022, when 15,730 low- or zero-emission cars were produced in Mexico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/abb-and-solfium-sign-agreement-to-accelerate-electromobility-in-mexico\/\"><strong>ABB and SOLFIUM Sign Agreement to Accelerate Electromobility in Mexico<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-manufacturers-and-brands\"><strong>Manufacturers and Brands<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vehicles such as the <strong>Chevrolet Equinox EV, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Blazer EV <\/strong>and <strong>JAC E 10X<\/strong>, are some of the electric models that will be produced more in the country, <strong>production that could reach up to 6%, in contrast to 2.4% last year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the estimates for the commercialization of electric units that have already started to be sold as of this April are from the <strong>BYD <\/strong>brand, which <strong>seeks to sell 5,000 vehicles, and in another case ARRA another 2,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prestigious firms such as <strong>BMW <\/strong>recently announced that its plant in San Luis Potos\u00ed would be the headquarters for the production of its electric vehicles.
