Faced with the alarming consequences of climate change, Mexico <\/strong>is working at an accelerated pace to adopt measures that contribute to the decarbonization of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The electrification of the automotive sector is vital for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong> since, according to UN <\/strong>estimates, this would lead to a substantial reduction in CO2<\/sub> emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The institution’s projections indicate that it could even achieve a reduction of 2.4 Giga tons of CO2<\/sub><\/strong>, generating fuel savings of close to 85 billion dollars in the 2016-2050 period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In view of this scenario, Kia<\/strong>, one of the world’s leading manufacturers, is analyzing the production of electric vehicles in Mexico, according to the Nuevo Le\u00f3n Governor, Samuel Garc\u00eda<\/strong>. It is worth noting that the brand already has an industrial complex in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agreements in the Works<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kia <\/strong>representatives confirmed that negotiations are underway with the parent company. In the event of receiving the go-ahead to manufacture electric cars in the Mexican state, the objective is to take advantage of the tax credits that the United States will offer for the acquisition of these cars, which represents a great opportunity for the brand to multiply its sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“More good news! Nuevo Le\u00f3n consolidates as the Hub of eletromobility: Kia is once again betting on Nuevo Le\u00f3n with an investment to expand its plant and produce two models of Kia cars<\/strong>,” Garcia hastened to tweet on May 16, to which, some time later, a company spokesperson ratified to The Korea Herald<\/strong> newspaper the company’s plans, although he clarified that it is still undecided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are not building a new factory, but we are considering transferring some of the production lines for electric vehicles. The move is part of our response to the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States, but the exact timeline has not yet been decided,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth noting that a few tables ago Tesla<\/strong>, a world leader in the production and marketing of electric vehicles, announced its first factory to manufacture new energy cars in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
